West Valley under new leadership

West Valley College Head coach Colin Pfaff will be at the reigns this coming season. The Vikings were 25-9 last season. Pfaff was an assistant the past two seasons under former Head coach Danny Yoshikawa who has moved onto to UC-Santa Barbara. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with Coach Pfaff and saw the Vikings play recently at Gerry Freitas Hoop Review at Azusa Pacific University.
Nick Alexander: (SO) 6-foot-7 (210) from San Jose, CA. The 3rd year wing player greyshirted at West Valley back in 2005-2006.

"Nick is tough as nails and really hates to lose," said Pfaff.
Portland, Sacramento State and UC Santa Barbara have all shown early interest in Alexander. Nick averaged 8.2 ppg and 4.5 rebounds last season.
Jabari McIntosh: (SO) 6-foot-7 (220) from Antioch, CA. McIntosh excels in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA.
"Jabari is starting to learn to be a scorer. He really needs to develop a toughness down low," said Pfaff.
Jabari averaged 4 ppg last season for the Vikings. Western Illinois and Northern Arizona have called on the forward this summer.
Ashleigh Walker: (SO) 6-foot-8 (230) from Pacific Grove, CA. Walker is a 3rd year player that played at Monterey Peninsula back in 2005-2006. Ashleigh greyshirted last season at West Valley.
"AJ is super tough and really alters shots on the defensive end," said Pfaff.
"Ashleigh is a long athlete who plays with his back to the basket and can really run the floor," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.
Steve Collins: (SO) 5-foot-11 (190) from Chicago, IL. Collins played a few seasons back at Bakersfield College (CA). The strong point guard is the brother of Kansas guard Sherron Collins. Collins enrolled in at West Valley back in January 2007 as a full time student.
"Steve is quick as a jet and nobody can stay in front of him" said Pfaff.
Collins will have to go the D2/NAIA route.
Dominic and Marseilles Stewart are freshman brothers from San Francisco, CA. Both are 6-foot-3.
"Dominic can really slash to the basket and penetrate and kick the ball very well. Marseilles is a stocky guard that can really crash the boards," said Swanson.
