Western Oklahoma has plenty of talent

Coach Rolando de la Barrera was at New Mexico State last year. Now he is running his own program in Altus, Oklahoma at Western Oklahoma State College.
Reggie Huffman (SO) is the only kid back from last year's program. Reggie averaged 15 points per game. At 6-foot-7 (215) he is 4-3 "tweener".

"He is a hell of an athlete, he can really get off the ground," said Coach de la Barrera.
"His best recruiting will come in the late signing period. Reggie's basketball IQ is still developing. He is a primetime athlete."
Reggie didn't play high school ball his senior year in Birmingham, AL. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Oklahoma City. That's is how Coach Kassin (former coach at WOSC) found him.
JucoJunction evaluation - Softball size calves, energy guy, lefty, quick first step, finishes with both hands, will log a lot of minutes this year.
"He wants to play in the right situation, Reggie wants to play right away at the four-year level," said coach de la Barrera
Renato da Paz (S0) is 6-foot-10 (315) from Brazil. He has spent time at Dixie State (UT) in 2004-05 where he averaged five points per game. Renato sat last year at Arkansas Fort Smith as a redshirt.
"Renato is big body kid that is very coachable that can function from 4-5 feet," de la Barrera said. "He is a space-eater in the paint."
He is open to any schools in Texas because his wife is from Midland,Texas.
Luis Augosto (SO) checks in at 6-foot-8 (235) and is also from Brazil. Luis is
a transfer from Dixie State (UT) where he only played 2nd semester and averaged 5.6 points and 4.2 rebounds.
"Luis is a workhorse kid, blue collar guy, very active," de la Barrera said. "He is not flashy, very strong, good complement player to a very flashy post player."
He will take an official visit to Idaho later this month and is also being recruited by New Orleans and Southern Utah.
Mario Burns (SO) is 6-foot (172) from Las Vegas. Mario is 24 years old and sat out last year from college. He played back in 2004-2005 at Feather River College (CA)
where he averaged 14 points per game.
"Mario has tremendous speed, he's very crafty with the ball, he's the quickest guy
on our team," said de la Barrera
Mike Lacey (FR) is 6-foot-3 (190). He is a qualifier with 3 years left. He played at The Patterson School last year.
"Mike is a 2-3 man who has good size and strength," de la Barrera said. "He is ideal for
coming off screens. Mike bench presses 260 pounds. VMI recruited him out of Patterson but instead went the juco route."
None of these players went to any exposure events over the summer, so this was the first opportunity for many to see them play.
