Williamson leads the way in Cincinnati

It is a pretty regular occurrence for a prospect to make his college decision based on his future coach. However, that gets a little tougher when that coach isn't actually coaching. That could be the situation in which Cincinnati State's John Williamson finds himself.
"He is definitely a big time player and he likes some of the schools that are looking at him," said Williamson's coach Andrew Tate. "He really wanted to play for coach Huggins here at Cincinnati and I know he's got his ear out to see where he's going to end up."

Williamson is averaging about 25 points and 13 rebounds through Cincinnati State's first 15 games in a system that is based on what the Bearcats run.
"We full court press, man to man, do a lot of run and jump, a lot of press, half court with a 1-3-1," Tate said. "Everything we do is based on what they do at Cincinnati. That's the Bearcat way."
Marquette coach Tom Crean was in to see Williamson play on Wednesday night and Charlotte's Bobby Lutz is scheduled to stop by soon. Williamson, the No. 10 prospect in our rankings, will be a heavily recruited player. But he is not alone at State.
"We've got four or five Division One players," Tate said. "Jarelle Redden, Demario Williams, the big fella, is playing well. Stevie Horton, a lot of schools are really liking him. He is averaging about 19 a game, about seven, eight assists."
In addition, Tate calls freshman Mike Hall "probably one of the best shooters in the nation." Tate said Hall is averaging about 25 points a game since the start of conference play and he should be a high-major talent in the Class of 2007.
