Yavapais Kindred Expected to Ink Late

Keion Kindred, a strong 6-4, 220 pound point guard from Yavapai C.C. in Prescott, Ariz., has three colleges on his early list this fall.
JUCO Junction spoke with Yavapai Head Coach Brooks Thompson recently. He told us that UMass, SW Missouri State and Oklahoma State are all keeping an eye on Kindred.

It will be interesting to see how closely Oklahoma State monitors Kindred after landing Dixie State (UT) point guard Jamaal Brown last week.
Kindred doesn't have any early visits lined up and is expected to make a spring decision, Thompson said.
As a freshman last winter at Yavapai, Kindred averaged three points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. The Roughriders finished 28-7 overall and qualified for the NJCAA Tournament.
Kindred was at the Mullen JC Camp in July. JUCO Junction caught him in action there and last March at the NJCAA Tournament.
Kindred has excellent size and good athleticism for a point guard, but he needs to be a more aggressive penetrator. At times, he meanders along the wing too much and overdribbles.
Kindred signed with UTEP as a senior in high school at Compton (CA) Dominguez, but opted instead to go the JUCO route. He could have left Yavapai with three years to play on the Division I level, but opted to return to the two-year school for his sophomore campaign in 2003-2004.
Kindred will have two years of eligibility left to play at a four-year school following this season.
JUCO Junction will be on hand next month to catch Kindred in action at the ACCAC Jamboree in Scottsdale, Ariz. We will provide you with another update on him at that time, or sooner if the situation warrants.
