Young squad

The Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters are coached by Maurice Leitzke. Currently the Gila Monsters are 8-1 on the young season and have just one sophomore on the roster in Jon Orr.

Freshman point guard and Duluth, Minn. native Taylor Stafford is off to a quick start this season with a 15.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. "Taylor is a very fast guard from end to end with great explosion to the basket," said
JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
Promising freshman Darius Gibson hails from the Lexington, Ken. Gibson is currently averaging 14.3 points on the season.
Orr is the only sophomore on the roster this season and is a local product from Thatcher. Orr is off to averaging a double-double at 12.1 ppg and 10.3 rebounds this season. "Jon just helps your team win games," said Swanson.
The Gila Monsters have a long ways to go this season but the future looks promising with this young bunch down in Thatcher, Ariz.
